ABOUT LEONARDO VOLPATO
As a Precision Phenotyping Postdoctoral Researcher at Corteva Agriscience, I apply my data analysis, machine learning methods, and high throughput phenotyping (HTP) skills to develop and validate innovative solutions for crop improvement. I have over six years of experience in genetic plant breeding, working with different crops, biometric methods, genomic and phenomic tools and remote sensing tools. I obtained my Ph.D. in Genetic Plant Breeding at UFV (Brazil) in 2020, where I developed a pipeline of remote sensing components to measure target traits on crops, as well as biometric analysis in plant breeding. I also collaborated with CIMMYT (Mexico) and UMN (USA) as a visiting student and a research scholar, respectively, to enhance my HTP skills and knowledge. During my work experience as Postdoctoral Research Associate at Michigan State University, I worked with HTP, genomic selection, and statistical analysis to optimize breeding pipelines in dry beans. Additional skills in developing pipelines in R and Python programming, remote sensing tools (GIS), data science em biometric, genomic selection applications, drone imagery analysis, statistical and remote sensing software, drone image collection, and experience related to practical field trial and statistical design applied. My goal is to contribute to the advancement of phenomics and genomics in breeding technologies for sustainable agriculture.
