About Leonard Bravo
One of the most important jobs of a leader is communication. If you want to motivate your team to achieve an objective, you must communicate your expectations with them. If you want to gain their support for a new initiative or get them on board with a new process, you must first communicate the “why” and the “how” of the “what” you want them to accomplish. I truly believe that the measure of a leader is often gauged by how well they have learned to communicate with their team. You will see in my experience detailed below that I have enjoyed a successful career in the United States Air Force. I have learned to work with, build rapport with and effectively communicate with employees from all cultures, all backgrounds and all personalities. This experience has helped me to become a more engaged and visible leader, has helped me become more adaptable and resilient and taught me how to gain a diverse team’s buy-in to changes by making them feel part of the process. The last ten years of my USAF career have been spent in safety programs and operations management roles. I bring a focus on efficiency, the ability to clearly convey expectations and standards and a dedication to creating an environment that follows regulations while still focusing on meeting production and quality goals. My USAF career will be completed in April of 2023. If you believe these qualities are a match for your organization, I can be reached at b•••••••@gmail.com to discuss any opportunities.
Experience
Safety Equipment Maintenance and Inspection Manager
Oct 2014 — Present · US
I led a team of up to 53 technicians who managed the maintenance and operability of 3,500+ pieces of safety equipment and survival gear. Valued at $116M, I tracked the inspection, testing, maintenance and calibration schedules for all equipment and gear. I monitored the operability of critical electronic and mechanical systems. My service commitment will be complete with this role in April of 2023. When I took over a disorganized, inefficient team with low morale, I conducted a business process analysis to identify and correct redundancies. My actions saved ~30 work productivity hours weekly. Using Lean Six Sigma concepts, I created standardized, targeted equipment packages that saved 8K annual hours and redistributed $400K in equipment. I directed 500+ annual inspections and retrained QA inspectors to enforce compliance as well as assume mentorship roles to teach procedures. As a result, QA pass rates improved exponentially. I created job safety training outlines and work area specific safety training guides in compliance with state, federal and USAF regulations and policies for 240+ employees. After evaluating key performance indicators (KPIs) for positive/negative trends, I identified the root cause of any incidents and identified where to allocate resources to reverse negative trends.
