ABOUT LEON TAYLOR

I consider myself to be a dynamic, enthusiastic and ambitious professional with an outgoing nature. I believe that I am very supportive of others, I am approachable, a good motivator and an active listener. Aside from the \"day job\" I was a Goalkeeper with the England Cerebral Palsy Football Team from 20••••11 and competed in international tournaments across Europe and the rest of the world including: CP World Cup - Argentina CP World Championships - USA Arafura Games - Australia The highlight of my sporting career was being selected as a member of the Great Britain team which competed at the Beijing Paralympic Games in 2008. I won the Derby City Disabled Sports Person of the Year Award in 2008 & 2009 and the Sports Person of the Year Award in 2011. In 2015 I was the recipient of the Community Award. In June 2012 I was proud to be the First Olympic Torchbearer of the Day as the flame left my home City of Derby in - right up there with my sporting achievements. Until \'retirement\' from football I was the Player representative on the National Cerebral Palsy League Committee. I am the assistant coach for the Derby County Adults Cerebral Palsy Team & Sporting Ambassador for Cerebral Palsy Sport. Away from Sport I am the Patron of Hemi Hearts, a support group for children and families living with hemiplegia, a form of cerebral palsy. I can talk passionately about overcoming the challenge of being born with a disability - Cerebral Palsy which predominantly affects the right side of my body, to achieve my life\'s ambitions and the rocky road in between https://wordpress.com/posts/leonslog.home.blog
