About Leon Dsouza
Leon joined TIAA India in 2021 as General Counsel, Chief Legal, Risk, Compliance & Privacy Officer. He has been instrumental in establishing the entity governance and control framework in addition to expanding the global legal, risk and compliance functions to make them the fastest growing line of business at TIAA India in recent times. Prior to joining TIAA, Leon was the General Counsel and Head of Legal, Compliance and Controls for Nomura in India. He spent nearly 15 years stabilizing and expanding risk and control functions. Under his leadership, the three departments grew to being amongst the largest offshore control functions in the country. Leon is a qualified lawyer with over 26 years of experience at banking & financial institutions where he has successfully led control functions and built businesses across various organizations. He began his career with India’s largest private sector bank, ICICI Bank and later moved to ING, JPMorgan Chase, Lehman Brothers and Nomura. Leon is a member of various management and regulatory committees in India, where he has developed regulatory and government relationships. He sits on several committees of not-for-profit organizations that are primarily focused on affordable medical aid and free education for children in India.
