As a partner at Gordon Rees and after thirty years of practice, I am privileged to represent our clients in a vast range of matters. Over the years, I have vigorously represented clients in the varied areas of individual disability and ERISA-governed disability claims; beneficiary claims under life insurance policies; bad faith; labor and employment; officer and director liability; property and casualty; construction defects and design; and various other first party and third party claims, including suits brought by and against condominium associations. Enhanced by my financial and tax accounting background, I have represented businesses, banks, commercial real estate companies, commercial property owners, and other business entities in matters involving breach of contract; leasehold disputes; breach of fiduciary duty; lender liability; corporate/partnership dissolutions and related derivate actions; appraisals of real property; receivership-related matters; bid irregularities; collections and foreclosures; and commercial real estate evictions. My practice also includes devoting much of my time and passion to DRI, comprised of civil defense attorneys and in-house counsel. In 2024, the Life Health and Disability Committee honored me by selecting me as the third recipient of the Linda Lawson Mentorship Award. In 2018, I was also honored to be elected to a three-year term as a National Director to the Board of Directors for DRI. From 2016 through 2018, I chaired DRI\'s Life, Health and Disability Committee and served as Program Chair for that Committee in 2015. I am a frequent speaker at the DRI seminars and authored the Florida law chapters for the DRI Compendiums on Life Insurance Claims and Rescissions of Insurance Policies. I have also spoken at the Eastern Claims Conference and participate in its annual programming. As a first generation American born of Cuban parents, I am passionate about diversity and inclusion and implemented numerous successful initiates during my tenure with the LH & D Committee to foster diverse and women attorneys. I also enjoy formally and informally mentoring numerous women lawyers. I enjoy giving back to my community and until recently served on the board of the Deering Estate Foundation and Dade Heritage Trust.
