Sitting as a community member on the Hate Crime scrutiny and involvement panel has given me a depth and breadth of insight into the complexities of hate crime investigations and prosecutions - and a broader understanding of the issues facing communities affected by hate crime from a criminal and social justice perspective. In this role, I have been able to provide meaningful lived-experience scrutiny on casework, advise and assist legal and policing professionals on policy and best practice, as well as providing a platform for local communities and victims to enhance their access to justice. Additionally, building a range of skillsets, specifically within interagency working across the spectrum of justice partners - within a dynamic and diverse team.
