ABOUT LENA MCZEAL
During my time as an undergraduate at the University of San Diego, the university enabled my growth and development, strengthening my ability to look outside of the box and explore my passions. Speaking as a Visual Arts major and Biology minor, art and science are, at their core, the same; they are both platforms used to further analyze the world around us and see it from multiple, and new, perspectives. Science allows for an analytical and formulaic explanation on how life around us functions at its root. Art evokes a sensory experience of common phenomena of the life we see day to day. Despite the varied paths I ventured down during my time at USD, every turn seemed to lead me back to medicine. Health Care Informatics allows technical and clinical opportunities to actively improve healthcare and direct patient outcomes. In person clinical experience has provided me with the love for patient care, growth, and improvement; and the overall satisfaction of seeing the patient become a happier version of themselves. A career in technology will allow me to study the changes that need to be made from an analytical and empathetic perspective.
