Our Vision: Mental wellbeing – including recovery from substance use – is a reality for everyone, everywhere.The National Council for Mental Wellbeing is a membership organization that drives policy and social change on behalf of over 3,100 mental health and substance use treatment organizations and the more than 10 million children, adults and families they serve. We advocate for policies to ensure equitable access to high-quality services. We build the capacity of mental health and substance use treatment organizations. And we promote greater understanding of mental wellbeing as a core component of comprehensive health and health care. Through our Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) program, we have trained more than 3 million people in the U.S. to identify, understand and respond to signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use challenges.

ABOUT LENA BALLANTINE
Meet Lena Ballantine (she/her): a seasoned nonprofit and operations leader with over two decades of experience driving organizational transformation and advancing health equity. Currently serving as the Chief of Operations and Transformation at the National Council for Mental Wellbeing, Lena oversees strategic initiatives that enhance mental health services nationwide. Previously, Lena held the role of Chief Financial Officer at FOLX Health, where she contributed to building a pioneering digital healthcare platform dedicated to the LGBTQIA+ community and raise a $30M Series B. Her commitment to mental health and LGBTQ+ advocacy was further demonstrated during her tenure as Chief Operating Officer at The Trevor Project, where she played a pivotal role in expanding life-saving services for LGBTQ+ youth through technology and operational enhancements.Earlier in her career, Lena spent several years at Siemens Healthcare, where she held senior operational and finance leadership roles which brought her from Germany, to Japan and ultimately to the US. During her tenure, she led large-scale transformation initiatives, strengthened operational discipline, and managed cross-functional, international teams navigating growth, regulatory complexity, and change. This experience grounded Lena in data-driven decision-making and enterprise-scale operations—skills she later brought to mission-driven organizations focused on health equity and social impact.Lena\'s leadership is characterized by a blend of strategic insight and a deep commitment to impact, inclusivity and wellbeing. Her work continues to support communities by fostering environments where mental health and equitable care are prioritized.
