About Len Egert

Len Egert is a seasoned executive, labor leader, and attorney with over 20 years of experience in entertainment and labor relations. He currently serves as the General Counsel / General Manager at San Francisco Ballet, where he oversees the legal, operations, and union labor relations functions for one of the world\'s premier ballet companies. With a collaborative and determined approach, Len has successfully led and transformed major entertainment unions, such as the American Guild of Musical Artists and SAG-AFTRA, San Francisco/Northern California where he represented several thousand members and negotiatied multiple collective bargaining agreements with broadcast, commericial, entertainment, performing arts and related companies. He has also demonstrated his skill and creativity in finding solutions for complex and challenging issues, such as the pandemic, equity and inclusion, anti-harassment, and contract compliance. Len is passionate about empowering organizations to create and succeed in challenging times.

1. General Counsel General Manager

   San Francisco Ballet

   May 2022 — Present

   Responsible for managing union labor relations, legal counsel across SF Ballet Association, and overseeing Operations. Chief strategist and lead negotiator in collective bargaining with theatrical unions; Builds and maintains cooperative and productive relationships between management and labor. Conducts In-house contract drafting and development for the Operations, Production, and Artistic departments, third-party collaborations, and touring. Drafts and approves the individual contracts for presenters, dancers, choreographers, designers, music soloists, and other artists. Negotiates special projects that support the organization\'s activities and further its mission (e.g, recordings, television production, festivals, presentations, commissioning projects, coproduction agreements). Strategizes existing and prospective opportunities for the purpose of expanding touring, keeping financial viability, strategic locales, and brand enhancement. Promotes and maintains relationships with presenters. Liaison on behalf of San Francisco Ballet with War Memorial Performing Arts Center, San Francisco Opera, San Francisco Symphony.
