About Lembit Sihver
Dr. Sihver is the founder & CTO of the CSC, US, former visiting Prof. at MIT, former Director of the CRREAT project at the NPI of the CAS in the Czech Rep. & International PI for the MIT-MIST Global Seed Fund Collaboration. He is a very successful lecturer at IMT Atlantique in France, and he is since many years working in collaboration with MIT, UTRGV & LLU Med. Center. He received his MSc with highest degrees at KTH, and his lic. and Dr. of Techn.(PhD) in Nucl. Chemistry/Nucl. Physics at Uppsala University, Sweden. He did his MSc thesis at CERN. During his lic. and doctoral studies, he performed accelerator-based studies of nuclear fragmentation in collaboration with the Noble Price winner Prof. Seaborg at LBNL. After his dissertation, Sihver worked at NIRS, Japan, where he developed beam transport & treatment planning models for the HIMAC. After 2 years at NIRS, he stayed several years as a visiting scientist at GSI, Germany, where he continued to develop models and transport codes for cancer therapy and space radiation. After GSI, he worked as a senior company specialist & manager at Westinghouse Electric, and as an Associate Prof. at KTH. 2001–14, he was a full Prof. In Nuclear Chemistry and Nucl. Science and Eng, and Head of Nucl. Science and Eng. at Chalmers. In the end of 2014, he became a full Prof. of Medical Radiation Physics with Specialization in Ion Therapy, and Head of the dept. of Radiation Physics, at TU Wien, Austria, and the Head of Applied Medical Physics Res. at the MedAustron ion therapy centre. Sihver\'s work is extremely international and he is an Adjunct Prof. at numerous universities in the US, Canada, Europe, and Asia. Sihver has extensive experience of teaching and international R&D in nuclear physics/engineering/chemistry, material science, radiation transport, medical radiation physics, dosimetry, radiobiology, and severe nuclear accidents. He has collaborated with Naval Research Lab, NASA, ESA and JAXA, and he has developed detector system, been PI for simulations & analyses of many exp. at the ISS. He has led numerous accelerator, physics, radiation therapy and medical physics exp. programs. Sihver´s nuclear reaction models & radiation transport codes have successfully contributed to the success of ion cancer therapy and space exploration. He is a technical advisor, teacher, and member of the development team of the radiation transport code PHITS. His h-index is 38, and he is an editor for many journals, author of many patents, 200 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals and 420 abstracts and int. conf. papers.
