ABOUT LEILA SASSOUNI

I am a second-year second-semester graduate student in Hofstra University\'s Marriage and Family Therapy program. I have maintained a strong 4.0 GPA while juggling a caseload of several clients, weekly. I take pride in being a merit-award recipient (2), and am grateful to have received this recognition in college and now as a graduate student. I earned my BA in Psychology at SUNY Geneseo, graduating Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa, in Spring \'22. I consistently earned status as a Dean\'s and President\'s List scholar. To gain experience in psychology, I served as a psychology tutor, research assistant, trained peer advocate for a support hotline, and a panelist representing successful psychology students. As a trained Peer Advocate, I also earned a micro-credential in Applied Helping Skills. I wear many hats - writer, student, student-therapist, mental health advocate, reader - among other roles, too. My passion is to help people in the mental health field, particularly with trauma (i.e, intergenerational) and anxiety disorders. As of January 2024, my favorite modalities include Bowen\'s Family Systems, Person-Centered, Psychodynamic, and Narrative. I hope to continue learning and getting hands-on experience in the mental health sector to attain valuable knowledge and skills that I can incorporate into my own practice as a professional.
