About Leighton Mayers
As a Biology student at Bowdoin College, I am passionate about exploring the intricacies of life at the cellular and molecular level. Currently, I am part of a developmental biology lab under the guidance of Professor Bill Jackman, where we are investigating the genetic and molecular mechanisms of tooth development in zebrafish. Through this experience, I have gained a deep appreciation for the scientific process and the importance of collaborative work.In addition to my research, I am also the captain of Bowdoin\'s Swim & Dive team, where I have developed my leadership and teamwork skills. As a captain, I motivate and encourage my teammates to reach their full potential, while also fostering a positive and inclusive team environment.Overall, my passion for biology and research, combined with my experience as a student-athlete, has equipped me with a unique set of skills that I am eager to apply in future opportunities.
