ABOUT LEIGH SMITH
Over 25 years in management and 20 years of experience in Sales and Business Development (Products & Services) latterly in the Energy sector including Oil & Gas, Offshore Wind and Waste to Energy and formally in the Ports and Marine sectors, I’ve spent the majority of my 36-year career in the Engineering space and the remainder in Operations and Logistics. These experiences and sectors seem very different but have many cross-overs especially the contacts, of which I have gained many via networking with associated organisations such as Team Humber Marine Alliance (THMA), Grimsby Renewable Partnership (GRP), Northern Offshore Federation (NOF) and Northern Powerhouse. Example companies include Associated British Ports, Siemens Gamesa, MHI Vestas, Ørsted, Equinor, Atkins, CB & I, Fluor, ENGIE Fabricom, CSWind, etc… I have experience working at Developer, EPC, Construction, OEM, Tier 1 / 2 and O&M level with the ability to liaise across all level within organisations including Site, Technical, Procurement, Commercial and Director. This also includes Government Departments.I’m a self-motivated person with well-grounded practical and technical skills backed with educational qualifications and commercial awareness. I am very adaptable and able to use these skills and knowledge towards new challenges and opportunities.My recent experience, gained with TDL Wind Ltd, has added to my knowledge in the Offshore Wind & Renewable Energy sector. Incorporated in August 2016, TDL Wind Ltd is a joint venture company between TST UK Ltd and Danbrit Ltd, formed with the vision of becoming a leading provider and “One Stop Shop” for Logistics services to the Wind Energy sector. TDL Wind aim to support offshore and onshore developers, contractors (EPC’s), installers, fabricators, equipment manufacturers, vessel owners and operators & maintenance (O&M) service providers. During 2017/18 TDL Wind turned over £1m and secured several contracts with Siemens Gamesa and their Tier One suppliers across several wind farm projects including Dudgeon, Race Bank, Galloper, Walney, Beatrice and Hornsea One project in 2019/2020.In my free time, I enjoy traveling with my wife, following rugby league and watching and supporting our children through the various and varied chapters of their life.
