ABOUT LEIGH LAPWORTH
I am a Rolls-Royce Fellow specialising in Computational Science and Quantum Computing. I led the development of the Rolls-Royce corporate CFD solver and have over 30 years\' experience of developing and applying physics based simulation using High Performance Computers. I have led a number of successful collaborative projects involving industry and academia. I am currently the principal business investigator for the 5-year EPSRC Prosperity Partnership in “Computational Science for Advanced Simulation and Modelling of Virtual Systems” launched in 2018.I lead the Quantum Computing programme at Rolls-Royce where we are seeking to identify demonstrate practical applications of quantum algorithms for real-world engineering problems.My previous roles include Head of Computational Science, Chief Design Systems Architect and Associate Fellow in CFD. I have also been the Rolls-Royce appointed director of CFMS Ltd. which is a joint venture between Rolls-Royce and Airbus specialising in high value design, underpinned by advanced modelling and simulation and high performance computing.I am a Chartered Mathematician and Fellow of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications; and a past Royal Society Industry Fellow. I have sat on several advisory boards and panels and I am currently a member of the EPSRC Science Engineering and Technology Board. I am also an Honorary Professorial Fellow in Computer Science at The University of Warwick
