Serves as the Military Consultant to the Air Force Surgeon General for Clinical Psychology, overseeing a portfolio of 310 manpower authorizations/255 clinical psychologists and advising senior leaders on the myriad of issues currently impacting Air Force Clinical Psychology to include military readiness, recruiting, assignments, education and training, utilization, career development, mentoring, special programs, and deployment operations. Also serves as the Associate Corps Chief for Clinical Psychology, assisting the Biomedical Sciences Corps Chief set strategic policy and direction for the BSC, and advising on matters related to Clinical Psychology.

ABOUT LEIGH JOHNSON
I\'ve proudly served as an officer in the United States Air Force for over 26 years. I graduated from the US Air Force Academy in 1997, and started off as an Acquisitions Officer, leveraging my Mechanical Engineering undergraduate degree to direct and oversee defense acquisition programs. While I enjoyed this work, I filled my non-work hours with volunteer work, and discovered that I had a deep desire to help others in a direct and tangible way. I took some night school classes in psychology and discovered a career field that leveraged my analytical/systems approach to problem solving and simultaneously fulfilled my desire to help others. I was fortunate to be accepted into the Clinical Psychology PhD program at USUHS and was able to remain in service while pursuing this new career path. I earned my Clinical Psychology PhD in 2007 and have had an incredibly fulfilling and dynamic career as an Air Force psychologist. As Air Force psychologists we are expected to grow simultaneously as clinicians and as leaders, and I\'ve enjoyed helping individual patients grow towards their full potential as a clinician while also guiding and developing teams through my roles as flight commander, squadron commander, and now at the strategic level helping to direct the course of Air Force Psychology as a whole. I am passionate about servant leadership, helping others to grow/meet their full potential, communication in all its forms, public speaking, consultation, counseling, and advocacy. I will be retiring from the Air Force in January 2024. I will be sad to step away, but the timing is right for me and for my family. I\'d like to find part-time work for the next several years that will allow me to balance work life with being at home with my young daughters until they start school. The Air Force has instilled me with a broad range of skill sets and areas of interest, and I\'m open to/excited to see what opportunities are available \"out there.\"
