About Leigh Goodwyn
LEIGH GOODWYN Leigh Goodwyn is the founder and CCO of LeighDeux. She is a former media and television executive who launched her dorm and home décor company in 2012 after her daughter had difficulty sourcing bedding in the XL twin size. Recognizing a demand for upscale dorm furnishings, LeighDeux offers bedding, textiles and soft goods. Looking to achieve the unique custom fabrics, Goodwyn founded LeighDeux with a line of digitally printed textiles manufactured in the Carolinas. LeighDeux’s collections have been featured in O Magazine, Nylon, Better Homes & Garden Magazine, The Washington Post, and numerous regional publications and blogs. Goodwyn’s goal was to create a unique brand of bedding and soft goods designed and manufactured in the Carolinas. She also wanted to build a mission-driven business by creating a scholarship program for deserving young women. She partnered with the Shuford Program for Excellence In Entrepreneurship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she is a board member to develop the LeighDeux scholarships. Together with her husband, Bill Goodwyn, she founded the FashionMash program in the UNC School of Media and Journalism. Goodwyn is a 20-year veteran of television network marketing, having served as Head of International Marketing for Discovery Networks and in various key marketing positions with Turner Broadcasting, Inc. Goodwyn has also served as Vice President of Marketing/PR for Discovery Place, Inc, a science and natural history museum based in Charlotte. Goodwyn serves on the Chancellor’s Philanthropic Council for the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. She is also a member of the Board of Visitors and the Women’s Leadership Council. She is also a member of the 100 Women in the Kenan Flagler School of Business at UNC. She sits on the Advisory Council for Carolina Breast Friends and served three terms on the Board of Trustees for Discovery Place, and the Board of Directors for Women’s Impact Fund. She has served on the Board of Directors for Girls on the Run, Charlotte\'s Levine Museum of the New South, and the Mint Museum Auxiliary. Goodwyn is the 2017 Champion of ‘Dancing with the Stars of Charlotte’. Goodwyn holds a BA in Journalism from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, where she was a Carolina Cheerleader. Goodwyn is married to Bill Goodwyn, a media strategist and Ed Tech executive. They have two adult children and reside in West Palm Beach, Florida, Charlotte, NC, and Kiawah Island, SC.
