Joint Academy was founded in 2014. Joint Academy is a state-of-the-art web-based behavioral intervention program for people with osteoarthritis. It is the first online evidence-based treatment program that can both diagnose patients with osteoarthritis as well as successfully treating the chronic condition. The product development and testing has been ongoing since 2014 from an increasing engineering and science team, presently >25 people. Joint Academy has raised $2m in seed funding from Lund University and prolific angels such as Hampus Jakobsson, Sophia Bendz and Tim Jackson.The mission of Joint Academy is to restore the freedom of movement to millions of people through science and technology.

ABOUT LEIF E DAHLBERG
Professor and Head of Orthopaedics, Clinical Sciences Lund, Lund University, Sweden until 2019. Now Senior Professor in Orthopedics.Since my post-doc at McGIll University I have established my own research group within the field of Orthopaedics in Lund. The research aims at getting the whole picture of osteoarthritis, from comprehension at molecular and structural levels, to understanding which external factors that influence progression of the disease. I have been main supervisor for +10 and co-supervisor for 7 PhD students. I have created an interdisciplinary and translational research network - LOAD - with senior researchers in orthopaedics, radiology, medical radiation physics, physical therapy, biochemistry, epidemiology and biomechanics.I participate in the 2018 update of the medical curriculum for medical students at Lund University. I am an Expert Consultant for the National Board of Health and Welfare (SoS) and for the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SKL).As an expert for the SoS I have participated in creating and updating the guidelines for osteoarthritis and I hold the position as Director of the BOA register (Better management of patients with OsteoArthrtis) which is a National Quality Register 2010-18.I am co-founder and boardmember of Joint Academy where I presently am CMO.
