I am a subject matter expert in Fluvial Geomorphology for Ecofish Research. As a project director I will direct and lead the design, planning and execution of fluvial geomorphology and ecological studies, and river engineering focused on offsetting design, and habitat restoration. ABOUT LEIF BURGE
Dr. Burge is a nationally recognized fluvial geomorphologist with over 20 years of experience solving applied river problems and conducting river research. His experience includes natural channel design, hydrotechnical geohazard assessment, hydraulic modelling, channel assessment, sediment management, sediment transport, river stability, environmental impact assessment, assessment of dam breaches, flood response and recovery, and fluvial habitat projects. Feature projects include design and construction of new channels and channel features, inundation and scour potential mapping using HEC-RAS modelling, detailed mapping and channel change detection for environmental impact assessments, investigation of the effects of land use on stream channel erosion and design of hydraulic structures for mitigation on pipeline crossings. Dr. Burge was the lead for the hydrotechnical and geomorphological impact assessment of the Mount Polley tailings storage facility (TSF) breach and worked on the sediment and erosion control plan for Hazeltine and Edney Creeks downstream of the TSF breach. He was the design lead for 90 m of channel to mitigate sediment contamination and improve fish habitat on a creek in the Kootenay region of British Columbia. Dr. Burge is lead author of a DFO white paper on the fate of sediment introduced into northern rivers, and an analytical paper on scour analysis for industry. Dr. Burge has worked on response and recovery to flooding in the Okanagan, hydrotechnical design of bridge crossings and inflow design floods in support of dam design.
