   As Shutterstock’s employment lawyer for the Americas (US / Canada / LatAm), I collaborate closely with HR and provide practical, business-friendly counsel to reduce risk and advance Shutterstock’s high-performance culture. My areas of responsibility include: • Legal support for all stages of employee lifecycle, including talent acquisition and hiring, non-competition and non-solicitation matters, employee experience and performance management, and separations (including RIFs and reorganizations). • Maintain robust compliance program for contractor classification, monitor related legal developments, and engage in advocacy and public policy efforts (obtained legislative relief regarding California AB5). • Advise on best practices with respect to hybrid and remote workforce, including cross jurisdictional aspects of distributed workforce. • Respond to and oversee actual and threatened litigation by current and former employees, including investigating allegations, developing defense strategy, preparing written responses to attorney letters, negotiating with plaintiff’s counsel and overseeing outside counsel. • Counsel HR and Finance stakeholders on compliance with wage & hour / pay laws – FLSA, state law, commission, and payroll considerations. • Provide employment law support for M&A diligence and integration. • Support HR operations on employment-based immigration policy and procedures. • Partner with cross-functional teams to explore and execute additional international expansion strategies.
