Dr. Legend Thurman is a veterinarian, policy advocate, and author committed to advancing veterinary medicine through clinical excellence, legislative engagement, and servant leadership. A resident of the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, she currently serves as Medical Director and Lead Veterinarian at GoodVets – The Wharf, where she leads a clinical team dedicated to high-quality medicine, mentorship, and client-centered care.Beyond the exam room, Dr. Thurman is deeply engaged in veterinary advocacy and policy. Through her platform, The Vet in Government, she works at the intersection of animal welfare, agriculture, international relations, and regulatory affairs, advocating for policies that strengthen the profession while maintaining a balanced approach that supports both animal industries and ethical standards. She also serves as Chair of the Washington D.C.
