ABOUT PATRICK LEE

Experienced development professional with over 13 years of experience, I have worked with a number of agricultural products (from fish, nuts, fruit and vegetables) across the value chain, from short-term missions to long-term placements in Africa and Asia, implementing multi-stakeholders complex agricultural and agribusiness projects and programmes on behalf of clients including the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the European Union (EU), World Bank (WB) and the private sector. I have a master\'s degree in International Development (University of Bath) and further postgraduate training in agri-value chains (University of Reading) and coffee (University of Zurich). I am currently an agricultural value chain specialist at Landell Mills with a focus on coffee providing technical assistance to the coffee value chain. This includes: Strategic Management As Project Director I oversee a portfolio of ADB projects. Day to day this includes strategy, financial, HR, and technical tasks and supervision of project managers on three coffee projects in Timor-Leste looking at: 1. Improving productivity and quality by establishing demo plots using a farmer field school approach teaching good agricultural practices and climate-smart agriculture to setting up wet mills and looking at piloting improved harvest and post-harvest practices. Addressing long-term productivity and climate resilience through R&D by looking at improved varieties through multi-location variety trials and supporting the government to establish a R&D programme; 3. Improving quality through a cherry quality pilot and developing green grades for export through grading standards, and creating a national-level marketing plan for Timorese coffee; I also look after three ADB/private sector innovative coffee value chain projects looking at testing innovations at on-farm demonstration plots as well as another ADB project piloting testing improved storage solutions, and testing biochar. Technical Delivery As a technical specialist, I consult on three Asian Development Bank contracts providing dedicated technical input as an International Value Chain Specialist. Full details available. Business Development & Growth I have been very commercially successful in winning new business for Landell Mills through strategic business development from fact-finding, EOI\'s, bid writing, bid management for ADB, EU, and the WB. At one time I led our division\'s business development including staff training in key donor procurement like the ADB. I have a strong network of partner companies and consultants.
