ABOUT KENDRA LEE
I’ve spent over 15 years immersed in the intricate world of healthcare, driven by a singular mission: ensuring our veterans receive the care they deserve. My journey has taken me through various leadership roles at some of the most significant VA medical centers across the country. Each position has been a unique opportunity to tackle challenges head-on and make a meaningful impact on our heroes\' lives. As the Associate Director and COO at the Atlanta VA Healthcare System, I lead operations for a Level-1A facility that serves thousands of veterans across Georgia. I take pride in my role because I know that every decision we make can directly affect someone who has served our country. One of my proudest moments was spearheading operational improvements at a Level-3 medical center with 328 inpatient beds—enhancing service delivery for over 1,300 dedicated employees.During my time as a Human Resources Consultant at the VA, I designed and implemented a nationwide Employee and Labor Relations training program that successfully educated over 500 HR professionals on vital policy applications. This initiative not only improved understanding but also fostered a more cohesive working environment across various facilities. One particularly intense experience was when I directed the Human Resources response during an active shooter incident. Coordinating with VA Police to ensure immediate staff safety was both challenging and rewarding; it underscored the importance of calm leadership in crises. These moments remind me why I chose this path—it\'s about protecting those who protect us.Outside of work, I’m passionate about advocating for veteran rights and mental health awareness initiatives. Whether through community service or informal discussions with peers, I strive to keep raising awareness about the challenges faced by our veterans long after they\'ve hung up their uniforms. If you’re interested in discussing ways to improve healthcare access for veterans or want to connect over shared passions in this field, feel free to reach out via email!
