About Lee Honig

When my grandmother Sarah (whom everyone called Shirley) was battling Type II Diabetes, I was a senior Chemistry student taking a metabolism class. As a student, the capacity and efficiency of the human body fascinated me. As Shirley’s grandson, however, what I learned in that class impacted me on a much deeper level. When she passed in 2010, I was the Chief Chemist and QC Manager at Vinyl Materials Inc. I knew then that life was calling me in a new direction.I thought about that class, about how my grandmother never fully understood her disease, and knew there had to be a better way to connect people like her to knowledge that could make a meaningful difference.So I put my head down and spent the next several years grinding out a PhD in Biomedical science.WHAT NOW?I’m excited to offer my skills and passion for helping others to a few key industries including:SCIENTIFIC COMMUNICATIONS MEDICAL DEVICES PHARMACEUTICALSCONNECTING TO PEOPLESince beginning my Doctorate in 2011, I’ve conducted research while keeping people in mind. I spearheaded the Summary of Safety and Clinical Performance (SSCP) program at NuVasive to deliver transparent and public facing of clinical evaluations for medical devices to patients and healthcare providers. My articles have appeared in \"Nature Communications\",\"Diabetes\", as well as “The American Journal of Food Science and Technology.” I’ve given multiple talks to diverse audiences including one at the American Diabetes Association.My experience in the medical device industry, chemistry background, and Post-Doctoral Research at the Diabetes, Obesity, and Metabolism Institute at Mt.
