ABOUT LEE GEYER
I am a healthcare analytics leader with over 30 years of experience helping health systems, governments, and organizations across Canada transform data into better decisions. My career has been defined by a passion for turning complex health data into actionable insights that improve system policy, patient care and operational performance. From pioneering case mix and population based funding methodologies to AI and machine learning solutions in healthcare workflows I thrive at the intersection of data science and health system planning. As the Chief Data, Analytics & Knowledge Officer at Extendicare, I lead enterprise-wide efforts to harness data for improved senior care. I’m responsible for turning our organization’s data into actionable knowledge and embedding AI where it adds meaningful value. Before assuming this role I served the organization as a consultant for more than two years where I led efforts to improve the quality of resident assessments and spearheaded several AI-driven initiatives including training development that educated frontline staff on clinical care policies and standards, making day-to-day work easier and improving quality of care. Joining the senior leadership team, I’m building a data culture and new analytics capabilities that support better outcomes for seniors and smoother workflows for employees.Previously, I founded and led a healthcare analytics consultancy, leading engagements across Canada spanning funding policy, health system and health human resource planning, operational and program reviews, and strategy. My clients have included provincial and territorial governments and their agencies, health regions, hospitals, pan-Canadian stakeholders such as CIHI, Health Canada and Statistics Canada, and life sciences companies conducting outcomes research with real world evidence. My background in consulting taught me how to bridge silos between policymakers, clinicians, and IT, ensuring data-driven innovations truly meet the needs of end-users. Today, I bring that breadth of experience to my role at Extendicare, where I continue to push for innovative analytics, cross-functional collaboration, and knowledge-sharing to drive healthcare forward.Areas of Expertise: Health Data Strategy, AI/ML and Advanced Statistics, Pharmacoepidemiology (real-world evidence, treatment effectiveness, outcomes analysis), Health Costing, Health Care Funding, Data Governance, Knowledge Management.
