ABOUT LEE BERGSTRAND
I have nearly a decade of experience bridging the gap between computer science and microbiology. My passion lies in developing bioinformatics software systems to support life sciences products and services. What sets me apart is my \'full-stack\' bioinformatics expertise, backed by undergraduate degrees in computing science and microbiology and a Master of Science degree in bioinformatics from the University of Waterloo. My diverse educational background equips me with the knowledge and skills necessary for biochemical pathway analysis, microbial ecology, software engineering, and web development.Throughout my career, I have worked in various settings, both within academia and as an entrepreneur. In academia, I developed custom software that empowered researchers to gain insights into the distribution of biochemical pathways among bacterial taxa. I contributed to cutting-edge research in this area as a member of three academic lab groups. On the entrepreneurial front, I founded a startup, Amplytica Inc, where I gained invaluable experience building cloud platforms and custom software tailored explicitly for microbiome analysis. As a leader at Amplytica, I played a pivotal role in its growth and identified suitable product-market fit within the soil remediation sector. Amplytica was later acquired by MBLS Inc, where I now act as Director of Bioinformatics. My work involves integrating Amplytic\'s intellectual property into MBLS\'s workflows and products and spearheading future products\' bioinformatics aspects. As an individual operating at the intersection of multiple disciplines, I understand the critical role of networking in the ever-evolving field of bioinformatics. I invite you to connect with me on LinkedIn to explore potential collaborations and stay updated on the latest advancements in the life sciences industry. Let\'s connect and drive innovation together!
