I am part of the Design and Development dept at Ricoh which focuses on delivering machines and equipment to the various production areas within the company. This can range from improvements to current processes, all the way to introducing new products and equipment. I work closely with the mechanical design team to ensure a concept that achieves all project deliverables. Once a project has been approved my role is to identify and order all hardware required, complete Electrical Schematics and liaise with panel builders so that work can commence as soon as possible and an accurate timeframe can be created. Once a mechanical assembly has been created I take a \'hands on\' approach to fitting and wiring all of the field electrical components and connect them to the control panel once it arrives. I am also responsible for all software and safety related control systems which are created using a standardized approach. This enables us to work on each other’s projects if required and it also ensures maintenance engineers are familiar with the software structure regardless of the application, both resulting in minimal disruption to efficiency. We utilize a wide array of cutting edge technologies in our equipment including Vision systems, Robots/Cobots, QR scanners and Data Handling applications from multiple suppliers. I produce a comprehensive Technical File to accompany each product which validates and ensures compliance with the relevant Standards and Regulations.
