About Lee Smith

I have worked in local government in eastern North Carolina and now in Coastal Georgia for over 34 years. My daily inspiration is and always has been to create and develop sustainable communities with outstanding leaders. My passion is seeing \"action\" in a community. I define \"action\" as a community taking responsibility for itself while noting its opportunities and investing in them. The real trick is getting communities to sustain the momentum as \"no\" community changes overnight.it takes years. To grow communities, all aspects of the community have to stand and get involved. These partners are businesses, industry, citizens, local government, non-profits, faith based organizations, etc. Without a complete involvement by these partners a community cannot be successful! I enjoy working with local government staff on a daily basis. The local government staff are a catalyst to success of the community; therefore, professional development and education of these individuals are paramount. My hope and legacy will be \"that I left a community better than I found it!\"
