I’m a data specialist with a passion for using \"data for good.\" Currently, I’m a Senior Business Intelligence Officer at Together for Children, where my focus is on turning complex social care data into clear, actionable insights that help improve the lives of children and young people across Sunderland.I tell the story behind data. In a highly sensitive environment like children’s services, I bridge the gap between technical data systems and frontline delivery. Whether it’s prepping for an Ofsted inspection or hitting DfE statutory deadlines, I make sure our leadership team has the right evidence to make informed, impactful decisions.Technical StackI’m at my best when I’m deep in the data lifecycle, from extraction to visualisation. My toolkit typically includes:Data Analysis & Reporting: I use SQL for querying complex databases, Excel for deep-dive modelling and SAP Business Objects for report writing. Visualisation: Building intuitive, interactive dashboards in Power BI to track KPIs across Child Protection and Early Help.Systems: Extensive experience working with social care management systems (such as Liquidlogic) and ensuring data integrity at the source.Leadership & StrategyAs a Senior member of the BI team, I take a lead role in:Mentoring: Supporting junior analysts to sharpen their technical skills and understand the nuances of public sector data.Stakeholder Engagement: Acting as a translator between technical teams and service managers to ensure our reports actually solve real-world problems.Continuous Improvement: Driving projects that move us away from manual spreadsheets and toward automated, real-time reporting.I\'m currently involved in the development and roll out of an exciting new reporting solution based on the cloud based Microsoft Azure platform with MS Fabric as the ALL IN ONE analytics platform that integrates data engineering, data warehousing, data science, real-time analytics, and Power BI into a single unified environment. I’m always keen to connect with fellow BI professionals or anyone interested in how data can drive better outcomes in the public sector.
