About Lee Mitchell

Lee Mitchell is the Director of Fuel Strategy and Planning for Duke Energy, where he is responsible for the increased adoption of low-to-no carbon emitting fuels. His leadership on strategic fuel and infrastructure matters is in support of Duke\'s generation transition from coal. His team’s work is primarily focused on natural gas, but also covers hydrogen, renewable fuels and carbon capture. Previously at Duke, Lee was the Manager of Coal and Gas Origination where he oversaw fuel supply for the company\'s power generation fleet. Lee joined Duke Energy in 2013 as a Power Trader for the company\'s Carolinas and Florida portfolios. Prior to Duke, he was responsible for the trading of distillates, gasoline and propane for Southern States. Lee has 17 years of energy origination, strategy and trading experience with a deep understanding of cross-commodity relationships.Lee holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Richmond and a M.S. in Natural Gas Engineering from the University of Oklahoma.
