As a Senior Officer within Grants and Contracts Management (GCM) I am responsible for developing and documenting the grant and contract investments in support of a client portfolio within the Global Development program, with an emphasis on investment structure, due diligence, and agreement drafting. The portfolio contains medium to high complexity problems. As an officer I advise clients and provide solutions by leveraging business acumen, in-depth knowledge of agreement terms and foundation policies and practices, and professional document drafting skills. My role requires that I exercise independent judgment, problem solving, and critical thinking within GCM guidelines with some guidance from manager. As necessary, I collaborate with GCM colleagues and business partners for guidance and problem solving. Within the team I serve as a contracts & grants subject matter resource for capacity development and National grant making (defined as organizations whose principal HQ is in the geographic area of benefit) to clients and GCM colleagues.My key responsibilities include the following:• Engage with clients to develop and document a portfolio of grants and contracts investments.• Spot issues, assess risk, frame analysis, and provide guidance to clients with appropriate escalation to business partners.• Prioritize, coordinate, and develop a plan, timeline, and corresponding activities to ensure deadlines are achieved for investment projects.• Understand standard agreement templates and options to create agreements and amendments, including working in collaboration with business partners on complex matters and implementing business partner guidance.• Participate in portfolio-level sessions with clients regarding pipeline of investments, trends, and issues.• Negotiate with grantees and vendors to establish business and/or legal terms in line with foundation policies, legal guidelines or guidance, and client goals.
