About Jonathan Ley

I’m a dedicated and driven professional actively transitioning into the fields of accounting, financial and IT audit, cybersecurity, and governance, risk, and compliance (GRC). I am expanding my cybersecurity knowledge through TryHackMe, self-study, and certification prep. I\'m currently learning about information security frameworks including NIST, ISO 27001/27002, SOC 2, and PCI-DSS. I also successfully completed a Cybersecurity Workforce Development program in System Administration which was supported by two NSA-designated Centers of Academic Excellence Grants. With regards to the financial side, I currently work as a legislative financial audit intern with the Colorado Office of the State Auditor. Previously, I worked as a treasury accountant in local government, where I’ve developed a strong foundation in financial operations, risk management, and internal controls. Likewise, I’m earning my Master’s in Accounting to eventually earn my CPA license where I will be CPA eligible in May, 2026.In my free time, I enjoy hiking, camping under the stars, and training in the gym as I work toward my goal of competing in disabled bodybuilding competitions. I believe that the resilience and discipline I apply in my personal life directly support my commitment to professional growth and lifelong learning.

   Review 20–25 local government audit reports for compliance with GASB and state statutes. • Develop Macros that saves 15% of time on formatting local government entity letters. • Perform financial data analysis using Microsoft Access and Excel to assess local entities’ fiscal health.
