ABOUT LEA RAAK
When I was diagnosed with an incurable (chronic) condition called Type 1 Diabetes in 2011 I never would have thought that this would evoke my passion and determination in life: Advocating and fighting for human rights, especially for marginalized groups like Persons with Disabilities and Chronic Conditions. When I started to actively engage in the Diabetes Community in 2014 by running a Blog about my life with Diabetes little did I know I would soon become a patient expert and leader, being invited to speak about wishes and needs from my community on huge stages from International Health Conferences like HIMSS or in Patient Advisory Boards/Panels for some of the biggest Pharma Companies in the world. There\'s little so fulfilling for me as advocating and being part of changing perspectives for the better.Several other diagnoses and advocacy projects, a bachelor\'s degree in Islamic Studies and a masters degree in Migration & Diversity with a focus on Gender and Disability Studies later I\'m always looking for unique challenges in the Inclusion, Accessibility and/or Healthcare field in driven projects that promote social change and inclusion for all. Here\'s to challenging my beliefs!
