ABOUT LEANNE STEPCHINSKI

I am a hydrologist with over 10 years of experience analyzing surface water and groundwater systems in roles across private research, academia, and government. I lead hydrology research across rivers, wetlands, and aquifers from technical and project management perspectives. As an ORISE postdoctoral researcher at USACE, I lead research on stream assessment and water resources. I apply hydrologic modeling, environmental data analysis, and field investigations to support water resource management and communicate technical findings to agencies, stakeholders, and the public. I write and publish manuscripts, and present research at conferences and to a variety of audiences. In past positions, I created and applied hydrologic models of wetlands and stream networks. I have conducted groundwater and surface water resource assessments in semi-arid to arid regions throughout Texas and in central Kenya. I have also used carbonate paleontology, sedimentology, and stratigraphy to characterize carbonate platforms in South China.I am passionate about quality science communication and translation. I aim to communicate the results of my work to a range of audiences who will benefit, in a way that is best fitted to their needs. I also enjoy mentoring and STEM outreach.
