ABOUT LEANNE WYBENGA-GROOT

Reach me at l••••••••@sickkids.ca or 64••••••97.In my new role as Senior Scientific Manager, I am establishing a DEL screening platform at SickKids as part of LIGAND-AI and Target 2035. This role brings together my knowledge of protein structure and purification, drug discovery, molecular biology, and mass spectrometry. If you\'d like to contribute a protein target to our DEL screening pipeline and potentially identify a compound for drug development, you can find out more at I managed SPARC BioCentre at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) for 8+ years, where I used my time management, organizational, and communication skills to manage the day-to-day operations of mass spectrometry, metabolism analysis, immunoassay, and amino acid analysis platforms. As well, my personal research employed biochemical tools like x-ray crystallography to investigate how protein function is regulated by post-translational modification, protein-protein interaction, and conformational change. I like thinking about how molecular events underlie the initiation and progression of disease. I am a dynamic and effective teacher, with strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills. My organization and management skills are evident by my ability to lead through change, juggle multiple projects and initiatives, coordinate seminar series and charity events, and lead collaborative research teams. I am actively involved in the scientific community as VP External on the CNPN board and contributing to (career) workshops, conferences, science fairs, and mentoring. I have extensive scientific writing experience, having written successful scholarship, fellowship, and other funding applications for CIHR, NSERC, ABTA, CFI IF, etc. As well, I have written numerous manuscripts discussing my own research as well as orphaned research projects. I am an excellent proof-reader with great attention to detail.Reach out to me if you\'d like to hear more.
