ABOUT LEANNE HARRIS

As the Director of Nursing for Nursing direct since 2016, my current role is to oversee the management of the homecare and clinical team who currently co-ordinate all areas of complex homecare and case manage packages of care for adults and children with varying complex specialist needs including ITU at home, spinal injury, brain injury, palliative and end of life care, and long term medical conditions. Other clients include those with other specialist needs such as, mental health, eating disorders, complex trauma, ASD learning disabilities, physical disability and dual diagnosis.Nursing Direct provide live in care, respite or daily care. Ensuring that clinical governance and all aspects of the care needs are met to the highest standard. My experience in healthcare spans over 30+ years including senior management within the NHS working within trusts such as Kings College and BARTS and the Royal London hospital, working within Emergency care settings and NHS performance management. I have experienced multiple challenges in health service provision over the years and managed teams of staff through many difficulties such as, poor staffing, lack of resources such as beds, access to services, waiting times, lack of community resources to name a few. The kinds of difficult pressures that require effective management skills, problem solving skills and a good understanding of the health service and the way systems within this NHS services work.Throughout my career as a nurse I have developed many other skills including a sound clinical knowledge that now assists me in ensuring service users receive the best possible bespoke care delivery packages, ensuring access and effective co-ordination of all services required to meet every care need. Due to my vast experience in Emergency care I have also developed an ability to work under pressure, co-ordinate resources and the team effectively, working alongside other healthcare providers and managers delivering care services in the community.
