About Leah Manoff

I’m a human resources leader with a natural ability to connect with – and develop - talent in multiple industries including hospitality, real estate, and financial services. I coach leaders to remain calm under pressure and refrain from making knee jerk reactions so that they look at the big picture and make better business decisions that drive performance. The management team I support values my business acumen including my ability to save time and resources by eliminating manual tasks through streamlining processes with technology. At Wally’s Wine & Spirits, a $55M fine dining concept with three restaurants and an extensive retail wine operation, I developed 10 new managers by creating a management training program that includes rotational assignments in every department of our operation, 1:1 coaching with key leaders and me, and a certification process to ensure that they are gaining the knowledge and skills necessary for success in their new roles. I’ve recently started an internship program by initiating relationships with the teaching staff at the Vatel Hotel and Tourism Business school. They send us their talented students to supplement their classroom learning with real-world experiences.One of my primary roles as a human resources leader is to drive performance through people. I’ve recently created a simple solution to the often-dreaded annual performance review. By listening to our leaders’ performance expectations of their team members, I implemented a review process that is easy and effective. I also created a clear rating scale and a calibration process to ensure consistency of ratings across the operation. By implementing this program, we now have objective data to use in our annual compensation process.My professional success is in large part due to my father’s teachings during my teenage years. Little did I know the influence he would have on my career. I’m a professional, but I don’t take myself too seriously. I focus and get things done – but I lighten things up with a sense of humor. When I’m leading a project, I make sure that everyone understands and is driving towards the same goal. Lastly, I respect everyone: I listen to dishwashers, I acknowledge our servers, and I maintain a smile in front of team members and customers.

Responsible for employee relations, talent acquisition, payroll, compensation, organizational design, performance management, benefits, and HRIS. Reduced payroll processing time 25% by eliminating manual timesheet process and integrating POS data with HRIS. Created an easy and effective annual performance and compensation review process.
