WORK HISTORY
Director, Childstat Data, Office of Research Analytics @NYC Administration for Children's Services
New York, NY, US
As the co-creator and Director of the ChildStat Data Team for ACS\' Division of Policy, Planning and Measurement, I have the opportunity to work closely with executive leadership and push the agency further with its use of data to assess performance and determine priorities. Understanding that disseminating information according to stakeholder involvement takes creative and thoughtful leadership, I spearheaded the hiring and training of data scientists to build new tools such as our ChildStat and Early Alert dashboards that keep frontline staff as well as top leadership up-to-date on weekly or monthly data trends. The most recent tool we are developing will analyze different types of reporters to the State Central Registry, this includes a datastore and automation process, utilizing R, Git and natural language processing. All our data products are developed in collaboration with the Division of Child Protection\'s leadership and frontline staff to better understand their performance and process needs while enhancing their data literacy and confidence when tasked to present their performance metrics to our agency\'s top leadership. Nurturing and prioritizing transparency in this seven year collaboration has ultimately been the most valuable outcome as it has transformed the way that data scientists and practice experts interact. The ChildStat data team’s awareness of the frontline realities have played a crucial role in how our data products have been developed. With this leadership role, my goal has always been to strengthen data literacy, community engagement, and accountability.
