ABOUT LEAH SHERMAN-WEINER

Story & visual development artist based in Glendale, CA. Concept Art, Character Design, Art Direction, Storyboarding, Story Development, Pitch Deck Design, Set Design & Photo Styling G\'day! My name is Leah Sherman-Weiner, and feature my creative work under my Chinese name, Gao Anyuan. Originally from China and raised in Austin, TX, I\'m doing my current soul searching in Glendale, CA. I\'m insatiably curious by nature and crave introspection and connection; as a result, my creative work resonates deeply with coming of age themes and how intersectionality influences the way we treat each other and ourselves! I am currently pursuing creative opportunities in TV and animation. I received my BFA in Film Production from Chapman University, during which time I excelled as a 1st AD, production designer, and director for multiple student films at all levels (sophomore shorts, junior \"AP\" advanced productions, and senior thesis films). I also used my studio art minor to stay rooted in the world of fine arts with the intention of pulling from both experiences for a future career in animation. During my semester abroad in London, I honed my resourcefulness and creative problem-solving skills through guerrilla filmmaking classes and vastly expanded my experience and interest in photography, especially conceptual portrait and non-traditional landscape photography. I spent a year interning at Little Studio Films—creating breakdowns, stripboards, organizing emails, and producing high-quality written coverage and analysis for the producers\' clientele—before transitioning to freelance work for the same company as a pitch deck designer for the following years. Since graduating from Chapman with a BFA in Film Production and a Studio Art minor, I have continued freelancing as a pitch deck designer for a multitude of clients from coast to coast. I\'ve also taken numerous opportunities to return to my passion for youth education as both a 3rd Grade home education pod instructor and a lead camp counselor for Girl Scouts of North America! As of summer 2023, I have been living and working full-time in Glendale as an artist and I\'m always eager to create something new with someone! I believe my \"personal mileage\" and plethora of skills stashed up my sleeves makes me a perfect pillar of support to add to your team — let\'s link and develop new worlds together!
