Currently, my role as a Coding Documentation Analyst & Educator and Appeals & Denials Team Lead is focused on running a high volume Inpatient Appeals and Denials department for multiple facilities, serving as a coding liaison providing education, team management, organizational development, and analytical support to a variety of audiences including denials & appeals teams, medical coding teams, physicians, clinical operations, and administrative departments.Responsibilities include direct supervision and management of the coding appeals production team, tracking denial condition trends and revenue, analyzing data, and implementing new efficient policies and procedures. Other functions include, assessment and revision of educational materials, establishing compliant documentation practices and guidelines, creating presentation materials and appeal templates, assisting with technological support systems, and continuing education via webinars, seminars, and department meetings. Focused on building internal and external relationships with providers and payers, I am also the liaison who coordinates calls and participates from a coding perspective in all post-payment peer to peer discussions between our physicians and payers. I construct and provide relevant, up-to-date education to our physicians on ever-changing payer clinical criteria, and stay current on payer reimbursement policies. Additionally, working alongside the CDI team and corresponding with billing, revenue integrity, and patient financial service teams to ensure smooth interdepartmental processes that help maximize revenue and recoupment for our hospitals.Proficient in various EHR/EMR and medical software programs including, EPIC, Cerner, HPF, 3M 360, NextGen, Midas, eRequest, CPart, Host PA, Artiva, CRT, OnBase, Citrix, Microsoft PP, Excel, Outlook. Active member of AAPC, ACDIS, AHDAM.
