I manage and mentor five editors in our department and oversee the management of our three journals and 10-12 book titles per year. I acquire new book titles, work with authors to develop their manuscripts, partner with journal editors-in-chief to move their journals forward, and plan and allocate our editorial resources based on our production schedule. I also manage several book projects myself from submission to publication because I love working with authors. I am passionate about growing the skills and confidence of my staff, so I make sure to spend time reviewing their work regularly and giving them constructive feedback. ABOUT LEAH HUFFMAN
I am an editorial professional specializing in medical editing with over 15 years of experience managing book projects from manuscript submission to publication. I have the privilege of directing our editorial team at Quintessence, which means I train and develop our editors to grow their skills and confidence no matter where they are on their editorial journey, all while making sure our journals and books come out beautifully and on schedule. I am particularly skilled at developmental editing and carving narrative out of heaps of text and images, and I love the challenge of turning a messy project into a bestseller. I have been blessed to work with some of the brightest minds in dentistry, and I love that I spend my days learning more about how the human body functions and responds to trauma and human intervention. I take a coach approach to leadership with our staff, and I believe in building strong relationships with my authors and colleagues to best partner with them.
