ABOUT LEA SADLER
I hold a BA in Journalism from the University of MD with a minor in English. I have nearly three decades of professional experience in writing, editing, and related work. I currently work as a communications specialist with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, GA. As a recent writer/editor with FDA, I edited and rewrote documents for publication in the Federal Register. Previously, I worked with Naval Systems Air Command writing, editing, and publishing about 350 technical reports/year for worldwide audiences. From 2013 to 2014, as a writer for the Strategic Communications division of United Way Worldwide, I developed content for corporate website and communication materials such as flyers and toolkits (press release templates, information sheets, Tweets, etc.), as well as two short books. I also developed PowerPoint presentations of media summary reports for major corporate partners and assisted testing a POD website for myfreetaxes. As a Producer / Account Manager at dbF A Media Company, I managed the entire client experience with our company-from first contact, to discussions on advertising and media production, to billing and collections; I also hired freelance talent. As a Communications Specialist with Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative (SMECO) from 2001 to 2008, one of the largest electric cooperatives in the United States, I managed the production of their customer newsletter-which had a monthly circulation of and was posted digitally on their website. While at SMECO, I also handled the creation and placement of all advertising, as well as the development of numerous marketing pieces. As a writer/editor with Haights Cross Communications, I managed a stable of freelance writers in creating content for a specialty publication targeted toward the educational market.
