Experience
Instructor (Nonviolence Training)
Nov 2024 — Present · Indianapolis, IN, US
As part of my role as Community Engagement Coordinator, I’ve also served as a trained facilitator for the MLK Center’s Nonviolence Training—grounded in the Six Principles of Nonviolence developed by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.The goal of this training is to teach individuals from all walks of life how they can create meaningful social change through nonviolent activism. The curriculum has also been adapted to be accessible and relevant for young people, making it a powerful tool across generations.Facilitating this training means not only knowing the content inside and out, but also presenting it in a way that connects, empowers, and resonates. I make sure every participant is up to speed, fully understands the material, and feels supported throughout the learning process.Beyond facilitation, I help promote the training to the right audiences through face-to-face conversations, email, and social media outreach. I work closely with the Nonviolence Training Coordinator and fellow facilitators to ensure each session is welcoming, emotionally intelligent, and impactful for everyone in the room. This experience has sharpened my skills in public speaking, group facilitation, strategic communication, and community-centered education—while allowing me to contribute to a mission I’m passionate about.
