ABOUT LAYO GREGG ZAMAYOA
Hi, I’m Layo.Be a traveller, not a tourist. That’s how I approach work, life, and learning — by putting myself in other people’s shoes and going deep rather than skimming the surface.I’ve always been drawn to the space where technology, people, and structure meet — especially when ideas need to scale responsibly without losing their original spark. I’m most energized by messy, real-world problems where there’s no playbook and progress depends on understanding both systems and humans. At Deloitte, I’ve built a unique blend of experience supporting fintech and platform technology companies operating at the forefront of innovation, where I work deeply within complex cloud and IT environments. Coming from an external audit background, I focus on understanding how systems actually function in practice — from infrastructure and access models to data flows and control dependencies. A core part of my work involves leading company-wide segregation of duties (SoD) reviews and continuously improving those processes, while translating between engineers, product teams, and auditors to help fast-moving organizations scale responsibly and build trust into their foundations.Over time, I’ve started to treat my career like a personal curriculum — intentionally combining the technical discipline of systems and controls with the social intuition that comes from leading cross-functional projects and creative ventures. I’ve learned that the hardest (and most interesting) problems aren’t purely technical or purely human, but live somewhere in between.I’m curious by nature, analytical by training, and at my best when I’m connecting dots others might overlook. Whether that’s helping teams align, building something scrappy that solves a real pain point, or exploring how technology reshapes trust in the modern economy, I’m motivated by progress that’s both practical and meaningful. My academic background in Finance, Business Analytics, and Environmental Studies taught me to look at problems from multiple angles — balancing rigor with impact, and speed with responsibility. Those experiences shaped how I work today: collaboratively, thoughtfully, and with an eye toward long-term outcomes.Having lived in Brazil, Mexico, and the United States, I’m comfortable with ambiguity and change, and I tend to gravitate toward environments where learning is constant. I believe comfort kills potential, so I actively seek challenges that stretch me — whether in product, strategy, or building better systems that improve how people experience the world.
