ABOUT LAYNE ELLEN HARRIS
As the owner and research consultant at Foresight Agronomics, I leverage my PhD in plant molecular biology and over 10 years of industry experience to help agricultural research groups, companies, and individuals get more value from their field and greenhouse trials. I help clients structure research projects to get the answers they need for commercialization, product registration, and optimized application and use of both biological and synthetic products. My passion is to use molecular biology and genetics research techniques to understand how plants respond to various stimuli, such as stresses, diseases, nutrition, and farming practices, and how this affects crop productivity and quality. I have successfully applied this knowledge to improve food crop production and biologicals product development in my previous roles as a postdoctoral research fellow and a nutrigenomics research technician. My dissertation research identified the mode of action of a newly developed biological pesticide in crop disease management. My goal is to help develop research that gives us more insight into how we can enhance and maximize crop productivity, quality, and food production, and create innovative new products, while respecting the biology and diversity of ecosystems that exist within each individual farm.
