About Lawrence Tj Shepherd
I became a first-generation college graduate and Army officer after earning a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering, Spanish, and French from the United States Military Academy at West Point. While there, I led diversity outreach across 13 cities, organized national STEM and Ethics conferences, engaged sponsors and executives, and mentored future cadets.As an Infantry Officer, I led cross-functional teams in high-pressure environments—from combat simulations with personnel to logistics and operations planning in the Mojave Desert. When a medical discharge changed my trajectory, I leaned on my roots—my family, Omega Psi Phi, and networks like MLT and The Consortium—to chart a new path.Today, I’m pursuing an MBA at Carnegie Mellon’s Tepper School of Business. I will further examine operations management and explore how AI and emerging technologies can transform business systems and decision-making processes. I’m passionate about innovation, efficiency, and leading with purpose in complex environments while helping organizations operate with purpose, agility, and a deep understanding of the people they serve.
