ABOUT LAWRENCE RUMBIKA
My engineering expertise is in the conceptual design through implementation and operational support of manufacturing equipment. This covers technical specification of new machinery, conformity to regulatory standards, controls engineering design, continuous manufacturing improvements and capital project justification and execution. Throughout my 22 year tenure performing manufacturing process improvements, designing and providing electrical controls support and managing projects, I have successfully carried out seventeen (28) high profile manufacturing equipment design & improvements in four (4) different industries from chemical, photovoltaic battery assembly, medical devices, automotive and biotechnology. The incorporation of my educational background in electrical, computer, and manufacturing engineering and dedication to successful project execution has played an essential role in project success rates. Some of the projects I have done include Bioreactors Perfusion Control Systems Improvement that required me to conduct in depth research of the existing system relative the current and future needs of the young manufacturing site and then oversee the design of a system that would meet their requirements. I covered automation concept, design, commissioning, and validation, FAT, SAT and SOPs. I managed the suppliers, conducted the construction and functional check, assisted in developing the validation and commissioning protocols, and oversaw the implementation of the validated improvements without losing any production time. The project had a significant positive impact on the Bioreactors output and met all project goals. My objective is a leadership position in Control Systems Engineering to make significant change in manufacturing systems through the integration of my extensive manufacturing system acumen, applied control systems experience and project management. Specialties: • Education, BS & MS • 2 years of robotic programming experience. • 16 years of project engineering including concept, design review, build, install, commissioning, start-up and turn-over. • 5 years of experience in GMP environment in Biotechnology • 8 years with chemical & industrial, 1 year with medical device industry. • 6 years of NEC, NFPA and IEC electrical regulatory and compliance assignments. 6 years of automotive parts manufacturing systems design and start-up implementation.
