About Lawrence Peacock
I am an expert at seeing the underlying motivations and drives of human interaction. I am an award winning teacher, physician, and leader. I am available for private and corporate consultations, conferences, talks and media interviews. I am also available to comment on the intersection of faith and healing. I use my story to communicate the power of building a life that one is called to live. I came from a life of poverty and violence. I flunked out of the eighth grade and was expelled from ninth and tenth grade. I came from a life in which I had no chance of success, to graduating from Rutgers with highest honors. While at Rutgers, I was a Paul Robeson Scholar and spent two years studying cognition. I continued on to Harvard Divinity School where I completed a Master’s Degree in Theological Studies. I completed my medical degree at the University of Vermont College of Medicine. I completed my Adult Psychiatric Residency at Duke University where I served as the Chief Resident of The Durham VA Medical Center. As a business consultant, I offer my top-tier analytical ability to increase productivity and employee morale. I teach effective strategies for leadership and management to create an environment where companies cultivate talent. I also offer behavioral health business consultation in which I develop effective programming for clients and training for clinical staff. As a speaker, I use humor and story-telling to challenge the illusions that hold us back from experiencing joy and fulfillment in life. I have a unique approach to psychiatry that my students and colleagues have found transformational over the years. Suffering is inevitable in life. Psychiatry and the mental health field make the mistake of attempting to end suffering. I’ve spent my life learning the traditional and cutting-edge techniques that promise to end suffering only to find that you can’t end suffering; you can only change your relationship to it.
