Lawrence Nature Center NJ (LNC NJ) partners with Sustainable Lawrence (SL) and Lawrence Township Green Team in many events and projects ~ Environmental education efforts, SL Energy Expo, Earth Day and Mother Nature Festival, Lawrence open-space land protection, Rain Barrel workshops, Reduce-Reuse-Recycle, Recycle Art projects; Proponents of Bicycling + Walking, No Use of Pesticides, No Child Left Inside, local Farmers\' Market, and much more.

ABOUT LAWRENCE NATURE CENTER NJ
GOAL of Lawrence Center NJ (LNC): To increase the community\'s knowledge and appreciation of NATURE, so that it will be enjoyed and preserved for future generations. This is accomplished through public education and demonstration of sound evidence-based practices. VOLUNTEERS: Under the direction of the LNC NJ Officers and Board of Trustees, and Lawrence Township Superintendent of Recreation, Christine Lee - Volunteers helped develop the Lawrence Nature Center since its inception in 2003. Township officials purchased the former Rinck family home and land. LNC NJ officially opened its outdoor garage classroom on April 25, 2004, at Earth Day ceremony. By 2008, Lawrence Township and community volunteers had restored a three-bedroom bungalow into an open meeting center. It is complete with a great room for lectures, movies, and meetings; a mud room - specimen room; storage closet and coat closet; library; naturalist/ education office; kitchen and two handicap restrooms with an outdoor handicap ramp. LNC NJ land + Drexel Woods totals 45 acres of family-friendly trails that were cleaned up, marked, and mulched. As of 2012, parts of the trails have brand-new boardwalks, bridges over wetlands, and resting benches along the trails. SPECIALTIES: Lawrence Nature Center NJ is an \"APPROVED SCHOOL TRIP SITE. We have a wonderful volunteer naturalist, supportive board of trustees & education committee; an additional onsite outdoor classroom, chimney swift tower, butterfly garden, mulching area, bee hives, rain barrel + rain garden, native plant garden, meadowland, assorted bird feeders and bird houses, American Kessel box, bat boxes, and wood duck box. Trees surrounding LNC are labeled with genus and species names to educate the public. Drexel Woods and Shabakunk Creek are great for more nature observations. Come visit us in central New Jersey!
