ABOUT LAURYN JOHNSON

Hello! I’m Lauryn Johnson, a strategic, legal, management communications major specializing in Media Management with a minor in Business Administration. I am fascinated at the idea that storytelling can be used as a medium in which to spread messages. As a current Media Management major at Howard University, I am learning that media can be used as a tool internally to promote efficiency and in externally with marketing, in order to solidify the public image and perception of a brand or company. As current President of the Howard University Film Organization,I have been spearheading the production of our three short film anthology series, Where’s Everybody At? This role has required me to pitch HUFO to countless industry professionals and to iniatie and coordinate partnerships with Panavision, Backlight, and Final Draft. Additionally I work as program manager for Diverso: a nonprofit film organization created to support change the face of entertainment by empowering the next generation of underrepresented storytellers. I work primarily on the fundraising team, helping to secure grants and sponsorships as well managing the budgets for our two initiatives: Black Writers In Focus and Minority Report. I am honored to work on a team of dedicated students passionate about changing the film industry.I am looking for jobs within the film industry that allow me to combine my passion for film with my skills of business and development.
