About Lauren Rogers

Lauren Rogers is the Director of Community Engagement at International House in Charlotte, North Carolina. She recruits and manages interns, volunteers, and community partnerships to help the organization provide services to foreign-born and foreign-rooted families living in Charlotte.She was formerly the ESL Program Director at Cape Fear Literacy Council in Wilmington, NC. She became involved with CFLC while working as an AmeriCorps member at Interfaith Refugee Ministry—Wilmington in 2016. She joined the CFLC team as the ESL Program Assistant in 2017, and was promoted to ESL Program Director in the fall of 2018. Lauren holds a B.A in International Studies with a focus in Globalization and a B.A. in Communication Studies from the University of North Carolina—Wilmington. While pursuing her degrees, she spent a summer studying French and International Politics in Senegal. Lauren graduated in May 2016 and has been involved with local non-profits since then. She also holds an Adult Education Specialty Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (2019). In May 2024, Lauren obtained her M.Ed in Adult and Community College Education from NC State University. Her program specialization is in Continuing Professional Education and her primary area of research is in reducing immigrant professional brain waste in the United States. She has a passion for helping service providers and professionals provide culturally sensitive and responsive programming to newcomers, regardless of language or cultural barriers.Lauren is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honors Society, the Golden Key Honor Society, and the Sigma Iota Rho Honors Society. She is also an active member of the Delta Kappa Gamma International Society for Key Women Educators, DKG Charlotte Chapter. In her free time, she enjoys reading, cooking, and visiting with her family in Gastonia, NC.
